As you can see all the products provide essentially the same level of protection. Only Avira is missing a Firewall which is sort of standard. These are basically the top 5 security suites on the market (maybe we should add also Kaspersky and McAfee?), so by picking any of them, you won’t go wrong. But how to decide which one is the right for you? We recommend to decide based on the following factors.

1. Advanced Features & Tools

Each product has some unique features and tools. This should help you to identify the one for you. If you believe Parental Control or Cross-Platform (e.g. ability to use the product on Windows, Mac or Android) are import for you, you only option is ESET. Well actually ESET Internet Security is the only product which has all features from our comparison (it is also the most expensive one). However features are not everything.

2. Scores in Independent Tests & User Ratings

Probably the most important part you should pay attention to are the independent test results done by a third party company (AV-Comparatives and AV-Test are the most reputable ones). These are very valuable because they test each product under the same conditions and environment.

User ratings are also important because they show how much is the product popular among the regular users, not experts. We have picked ratings from the most popular portals for antivirus downloads ( and

3. Price

Obviously price is still one of the deciding factors as there can be a huge differences between the products pricing. For example you can get Avast Internet Security for $39.99 (33% off from the list price $59.99) and ESET Internet Security for a full price of $59.99. So you can save $20 a year, that’s $1.66 a month – is it worthy to look at these level of savings when it comes to security of your personal data? Definitely not.

Free Downloads – Try Before You Buy

Luckily all of these products are also offered as a free trial versions. You can simply download, install and use them for free for 30 days. We recommend testing your favourite before you decide to make an investment.
