Avast GrimeFighter Overview and Free Download
Avast GrimeFighter is a tool for improving and optimizing the speed of your computer. GrimeFighter is the premium component of the Avast Antivirus, so you can get it even if you are using the free version.
This handy application basically does three things – 1) Improves your computer boot time; 2) Increases your computer speed; and 3) Provides you more free hard-drive space.
GrimeFighter free scan is available in all Avast antivirus solutions, Free Antivirus including. To run the free scan just open your Avast interface, go to ‘SCAN‘ and select ‘Scan for performance issues‘. You should get the following screen with the scan results. For the actual clean-up and speed-up process, you have to activate GrimeFighter.
Avast GrimeFighter 2017 Free Scan Summary
GrimeFighter scans your Windows system for present ‘grime’ like malware, spyware, or intrusive toolbars. Also it scans for unnecessary programs which are being run at the start-up of your Windows, and optimizes your system settings to make your computer runs smoother. For making up more free space it scans for redundant files on your hard-drive.
You can download the free scan tool from the official Avast website or click on the button below.
Avast GrimeFighter Pricing/Licensing
Unfortunately Avast GrimeFighter is not entirely for free. Though you can download the free scan tool but it only scans your computer (if it’s compatible) and shows you what the full version can do – as on the scan summary screen above.
If you want to actually clean and speed-up your computer, you have to purchase the full license (activation code). Which is on the other quite cheap if you consider how great and useful this product is. Pricing is as follows – 1-year license for $19.99; 2-year for $39.99, and 3-year for $109.99. 30-day money back guarantee as always.
Avast GrimeFighter 2017 Full License Pricing

For some users these pop-ups can be quite annoying. If you want to get rid of these pop-ups just check our ‘Ultimate Guide to Disabling Avast Pop-up Notifications‘.

Additional Notes
Although we have used Avast Free Antivirus 2019 screenshots in this article, these steps are also applicable for all Avast Antivirus solutions (i.e. also for Avast Pro Antivirus, Avast Internet Security, or Avast Premier) running the latest version available.
Steps are relevant for all Windows versions – Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 (including Anniversary Update).
Please note from July 2015 Avast GrimeFighter has been replaced by Avast Cleanup.
I was one of the original investors for Jumpshot thru Kickstarter. I still use the cartoonish 32GB USB stick I received as a gift for contributing. I’ve used it 3 – 4 times a year with excellent results … until last week … total disaster. It totally trashed my Windows 10 computer. The computer would boot and could access the Internet but none of the other programs would run. I was not even able to reload any programs. Forced to reinstall Windows 10 (it was able to save all documents) and now I’m in the process of reinstalling all applications. Don’t need this grief. Needless to say, even though I have a lifetime subscription, I will not be running it again.
