This step-by-step manual explains how to install avast! Free Antivirus 2013 (version 8). It assumes you have the antivirus already downloaded and ready to install on your hard drive or external device like flash disk. 1) Run the Setup File
Locale file called ‘avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe’ on your computer and run the five-step installation. On the first screen you have to chose what antivirus do you wish to install. You got two options here – free version or you can try avast! Internet Security for 20 days for free (no credit card information is needed and you can switch easily to free version). Whichever option you will choose you have to click on it’s ‘Install’ button.

2) Choose the Installation Options
During the second step of setup you’re being asked what type of installation do you want – express or custom one. Express install is for common computer user while custom install is for advanced users. With custom install you can select the installation directory and what security stuff (like program components, or antivirus shields) you want on your computer. If you’re going step by step and following our instructions we definitely recommend to go with the express installation.
Another thing which you need to select during the second step are additional products. You can get offer to install Google Chrome browser, Google Drive storage, or some other software. If you leave this option selected the additional software will be installed on your computer. If you don’t wish to install anything else besides avast! Free Antivirus make sure you have unchecked the proper box. Once you have everything selected as you want you have to click on the ‘Next’ button.

3) Accept End User License Agreement (EULA)
Third step is very simple you just have to click on the ‘Next’ button. By clicking on the ‘Next’ button you agree with the avast! Free Antivirus EULA. Of course you can read the EULA carefully by clicking on the link ‘End User License Agreement’ but there’s nothing wrong.

4) Actual Installation Process
During the fourth step you actually do not have to do anything. You can just sit and watch the progress bar how avast! is creating system restore point and how the avast! files are being copied onto your computer.

5) Registration Information
In the last step you also don’t have to do anything. You will just get an information about the 30 day period during which you have to register your avast! antivirus. If you’re looking for more information about the registration process check out our page ‘Free License‘.

Once you complete the five steps of installation you should get the screen with nice smiley icon.

And if you open the avast! Free Antivirus user interface (from desktop or system tray) you should see the same smiley also there.
