AVAST will Keep Supporting Windows XP for 3 Years
In case you haven't heard, Microsoft will end support for Windows XP users on April…
At the end of April AVAST has made a very interesting acquisition of German company called secure.me. This company is providing an online service for protecting your Facebook profile. It basically works like an antivirus for Facebook. secure.me is completely free, and has more than 150,000 active users a day within more than a 100 countries around the globe.
What secure.me application does in particular? It basically scans 24/7 all posts on your wall, your friends, and photos. Based on the application’s algorithm identifies that ones which could harm you, your privacy, or reputation. Also it has a nice feature called ‘App Advisor’ to easy control over the Facebook apps you’re using. Plus you can use it to control your children’s Facebook profiles to make sure they don’t ‘friend’ with ‘inappropriate’ people.
Here’s the example of the secure.me Facebook application in action:

Besides the key Facebook application secure.me offers a free application for iOS (iPhone). This app is simply called ‘secure.me for Facebook‘ and provides you an easy and simply overview of the Facebook applications you’re using and what kind of data do you share with these applications.
What are the AVAST plans with secure.me? According to Ondrej Vlcek, AVAST CTO, they should integrate this technology by the end of this year into all relevant AVAST applications including the avast! Free Antivirus. So avast! antivirus users will get another very nice and useful feature completely for free. We can’t wait to see this technology live under the AVAST brand.
