By end of May 2015 Avast is ending support for all older versions of the antivirus products (Free Antivirus, Pro Antivirus, Internet Security, and Premier). By older versions it is meant version 8 (2013) and lower.

Avast will no longer provide product updates and patches for these versions. Also you won’t be able to receive any customer support from Avast. However the virus definitions updates will still be updated on the same frequency as for the latest version.

If you are still running on the older version you can update to the latest one completely for free. See our guides how to do that

Updating to the latest Avast version will give you better level of protection and access to new tools. As you can see on the chart below, the detection rates of Avast 2015 are much better than 2014.

What is your current Avast version? We definitely recommend to update on the latest 2015.10.2.2218.

My name is Paul and I love Avast since the Home Edition v4.8 (2008). I am recommending it to all my friends, but I realized they don't know how to use it. So I started this site in order to help others getting maximum from this awesome antivirus. Feel free to contact me via Facebook, comments below or this form.
