Avast Commit to Defending Against Ransomware Following Huge Attack
Last week saw what has been described as the single worst ransomware attack in history.…
After many months since the last Avast beta version has been released, the new one is here and it contains some major changes. Although the build version is still number 12 (12.4.2281), it isn’t clear whether this is version 2017 or not. The next beta released is planned by the end of January 2017.
As always you can try the new version completely for free, including the premium products Pro Antivirus, Internet Security and Premier. If you are not interested in the details, you can go directly to download links.
Besides the new design there is unfortunately not much confirmed officially. What we have noted so far
As you can see from the screenshots below the new Avast 2017 is very different compared to the current version. The user interface is no longer white and orange, but rather dark blue and purple. Overall the user interface is very modern, light and clean. The only thing which feels like it doesn’t belong there is the white banner at the bottom of the home screen.
Also the whole interface is much bigger compared to the current one. The new one is 1010 x 674 pixels while the old one is only 802 x 562 pixels.

Although the version has been released to public, it probably contains lot of bugs. The safest way to try it is using the Virtual Machine appliance. Let us know in the comments below how do you like it and especially the new user interface. We really love it.
Although we have used Avast Free Antivirus 2017 Beta screenshots in this article, new version is available for all Avast Antivirus solutions (i.e. also for Avast Pro Antivirus, Avast Internet Security, or Avast Premier).
Avast 2017 should be compatible with all Windows versions – Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
Please note it’s still just a beta version and probably contains lot of bugs. We recommend installing it on the Virtual Machine.
