Just after few days from the latest program update 2015 R4, Avast has surprisingly released a first beta of the upcoming 2016 version to public. Release version is Avast 2016 B2, build 2016.11.1.2235. You can try it completely for free, including the premium products Pro Antivirus, Internet Security and Premier.

Avast 2016 List of Changes and New Features

So what are the key differences between Avast 2015 and Avast 2016? There is plenty of them but the hottest new feature is definitely the integrated password manager. Full list of changes and new features includes following:

  • NEW Password Manager – Integrated password manager for storing your passwords securely. Including browser extension for passwords and login auto-filling. Avast hasn’t confirmed what will happen with the current Avast EasyPass
  • NEW SafeZone Browser – Replacing current SafeZone mode which is available only in the premium products. Key features should be Pay Mode which is automatically turned on when you are doing online financial transactions or shopping. Plenty of useful extensions like Ad Blocker or Video Downloader
  • NEW User Interface and Installation Process – As with every new Avast version the user interface and installation process have been completely redesigned. See the screenshots below for more details. We really love it!
  • IMPROVED Home Network Security – Scan has been enhanced to detect more router vulnerabilities and show more details about the issues found
  • Many other minor improvements and fixes

For sure we will bring a full review of these new features soon. So far we are pretty excited from this beta version and can’t wait for the public release of the final version 2016.

Although the version has been released to public, it probably contains lot of bugs. The safest way to try it is using the Virtual Machine appliance.

Additional Notes

Although we have used Avast Free Antivirus 2016 Beta screenshots in this article, new version is available for all Avast Antivirus solutions (i.e. also for Avast Pro Antivirus, Avast Internet Security, or Avast Premier) running the latest version available.

Avast 2016 should be compatible with all Windows versions – Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

Please note it’s still just a beta version and probably contains lot of bugs. We recommend installing it on the Virtual Machine.
