Shortly after program update 8.0.1488 released on 2nd of May, there is another one 8.0.1489 released a week after. It has been a 4th program update this year so far.

There are some nice fixes and important upgrades so don’t wait with updating your product. Both recent program updates together bring following stuff to all avast! core consumer products (Free Antivirus, Pro Antivirus, Internet Security, and Premier)

  • Brand new VPN feature/component called avast! SecureLine – we’ll providing more information about it
  • Improved Software Updater including less frequent pop-ups
  • Fixed BSOD in aswTdi.sys
  • Fixed WebRep crashes in Internet Explorer, and not saving position in Firefox
  • Improved compatibility with screen readers
  • Improved product stability and performance
  • Minor fixes in GUI

According to the topic on official avast! forum, it should be safe to update the program as there are no frequent/major issues so far.
