UPDATE (2013-08-11): avast! program update version 8.0.1496 is officialy released – check this post ‘Update Your avast! to Get the Windows 8.1 Compatibility‘ for more information.
Even though Windows 8.1 is not yet officially released, the beta version (Microsoft calls it ‘Preview’) is available for couple of weeks. Unfortunately it seems that Windows 8.1 are not compatible with avast! antivirus (version 8.0.1489 or older).
Luckily avast! team reacted quite fast and started working on the program update which will solve this issue. Program update (version 8.0.1496) is currently available as a beta and you can find the links here on official avast! forum or simply click on the links below. You can just run the installer on top of your existing version.
Besides the Windows 8.1 compatibility issues, the new program update fixes Script Shield compatibility with the latest browsers, and cotnains improvements in virtualization (aswVmm).
