AVAST Releasing Free Android App for Removing Ransomware
We have recently informed you about the wide ransomware attack called CryptoLocker and GameOver Zeus.…
Few days ago Avast has released a brand new app for Apple iOS devices (iPhone and iPad). It’s called Avast SecureMe and it’s basically a completely free VPN with no limitations.
In case you are not familiar with the VPN, it is very handy type of app which will encrypt your Internet connection so you are invisible. That means you are protected against potential hackers who are stealing users data like passwords or payment card numbers on public Wi-Fi networks (like in cafes or at airports).
User interface is really beautiful, modern and easy to use. There are no complicated settings. You can check the actual screenshots below:
Once you connect to a Wi-Fi with your iPhone/iPad just launch the app and tap on ‘Scan Wi-Fi‘. If the network is vulnerable you can explore issues by tapping on ‘Found issues‘ or secure yourself by tapping on ‘SecureMe‘. If it is first time your are using Avast SecureMe, app will ask you to install the VPN profile. You can always tell you are secured by having the VPN rectangle in the top bar of your iOS device (between Wi-Fi icon and time).
If you believe the Wi-Fi is private (e.g. at your home or friend’s place), you can add the network to the trusted list by tapping on ‘Mark as trusted‘.
Because SecureMe is completely free and with no ads, you can sometimes get an up-sell offer for the paid product Avast SecureLine VPN. However the up-selling is very soft and not intrusive.
