Avast has just released a first program update to the fresh version 2016. Update is called R1 SP1 and build version is 11.1.2245. As always with Avast, you can update to the latest version completely for free. If you are not interested in the update details, you can go directly to download links.

Latest update contains a few minor new features and lot of bug fixes, so we definitely recommend to update your Avast today. Especially if you are using Avast on Windows XP and encountered the troubles with certificates for HTTPS scanning. Full list of changes/fixes contains:

  • NEW E-mail Signature Disabling – Now you can easily disable the ‘famous’ e-mail footer signature directly from the ‘Settings‘ » ‘General
  • NEW Passwords Extension – Passwords browser extension for Firefox is now signed and fully compatible
  • NEW Scan Icons – New icons have been added to each type of virus scan (see the screenshot below)
  • FIXED Browsing on Windows XP – Common browsing issue on Windows XP machines has been fixed
  • FIXED HTTPS Scanning – HTTPS scanning supports SPDY protocol and expired certificate issue has been fixed
  • FIXED Other Issues/Bugs – Tons of other issues and bugs have been fixed/resolved

You can update your Avast directly from the program interface by going to ‘Settings‘ » ‘Update‘ » ‘Program‘ » ‘Update‘. Usually Avast also prompts you with the pop-up notification to update.
