World’s leading company in wireless telecommunications products and services – Qualcomm, partners with leaders in mobile security Avast, AVG and Lookout. Together they will create a technology called Smart Protect which will be implemented directly into mobile phone processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 820.

Smart Protect will be a machine learning algorithm protecting mobile phone users from the zero-day threats. That means your hardware will be able protect you even before the vendor will react on a security exploit by releasing a patch. For example against the latest Stagefright vulnerability.

Qualcomm’s director of product management Asaf Ashkenazi adds: “Avast’s experience and leadership in the mobile security space made them an obvious choice for this integration. Thanks to Avast’s advanced AV technology and mobile security solutions, customers will have access to a more comprehensive level of security and privacy protection.

First processor with Smart Protect will be the Snapdragon 820. Expected to be released in 2016. Confirmed devices using Snapdragon 820 and Smart Protect are LG G4 Pro, Xiaomi Mi5 & Mi5 Plus, Mstar S700 Pro, HTC Aero and Sony Xperia Z5.
