Recently Avast did a very interesting experiment. They intentionally lost 20 phones in New York City and San Francisco to see if they are still some good people in the world and how the Avast Anti-Theft works in the real environment. Each phone has contained contact information about the owner.

Together with the Avast Free Mobile Security they also installed two apps from competitors – Lookout Security & Antivirus and Cheetah Clean Master.

The whole experiment has shown following key facts:

  • Only Avast Anti-Theft survived the factory reset on majority of the phone while the competitor apps were deleted
  • Only 4 phones have been returned to the owner
  • 2 phones ended up in different country (Dominican Republic and India)
  • 4 phones are currently still online and being used

Watch the video below to see the whole experiment and what happened.

To make sure your phone is protected and you can find it even when it gets lost/stolen, install the Avast Free Mobile Security for Android.

My name is Paul and I love Avast since the Home Edition v4.8 (2008). I am recommending it to all my friends, but I realized they don't know how to use it. So I started this site in order to help others getting maximum from this awesome antivirus. Feel free to contact me via Facebook, comments below or this form.
