Also you can check our list of how-to articles. Our step-by-step guides include many useful tips and more importantly also a screenshots.

Our How-tos and Help

My name is Paul and I love Avast since the Home Edition v4.8 (2008). I am recommending it to all my friends, but I realized they don't know how to use it. So I started this site in order to help others getting maximum from this awesome antivirus. Feel free to contact me via Facebook, comments below or this form.

I have recently upgraded to Avast Premier 2016 and am very pleased with it. I have a small issue with the Passwords functionality in that it prevents me from logging into my Synology DiscStation NAS using the inbuilt web interface. The symptoms are that while the Avast Passwords extension is running in Chrome or Firefox the login hangs indefinitely after entering my user name and password. In both browsers disabling the extension provides an instant fix. Using MS Edge doesn’t cause any problems as it doesn’t allow the use of third party extensions.

I keep trying to turn the ‘this message has been sent from a virus free computer’ inserted message off and it doesn’t seem to stop it from attaching it to every email. This is very frustrating! Can you explain how to turn it off? When I looked into the email shield the options for inserting that message have been removed and yet they’re still being added to my emails.

I tried to locate my renewal date knowing it is coming up in March – for premium avast antivirus. However my email address and password which were not changed did not work. I live at a new address – 691 Ivy Rd. Cranbrook, BC V1C 6W7 Is this why?

Two weeks ago I requested a $29.99 refund for a renewal I didn’t need… 2 weeks ago. Since I didn’t need to renew I didn’t use the product for this year.

I spoke to customer service 3x and also went through the refund process and have a Ticket Refund # but am starting to doubt AVAST actually has a mechanism in place for refunds. Hopefully, they will prove me wrong. I’ll be back here tomorrow to let everyone know.

So, far, 2 weeks later and still no refund. I just sent them a reminder email with their system generated ticket# which I should not have had to do. I should already have the refund.

Things are going to get ugly if I don’t get my refund within the next 24 hours. And, if I don’t, I’ll not only be back here I’ll be everywhere else. I’ll be back here in 24 hrs to update on the status of my refund. J.R.

Avast doesn’t work with Windows 8. Right after the end of installation, a blue screen shows up saying that Windows has detected an error and will reinitialize. After reinitialization, Avast doesn’t initiate; the shortcut created on the screen is just an empty file that leads to nowhere. If I go directly to the AvastUI.exe file, I get an error message saying the the application failed to be executed due to an wrong configuration check the events log. And that is it…
