Why does each time i insert a usb flash drive in my laptop my avast turns all its folders into shortcuts?

    • Jai Kumar Reply

Hi Sanjay.. This Happens Repeatedly Because of the Autorun.inf Virus wich spreads through the usb sticks , When the infected usb pluggen on a computer then the Whole Computer gets infected and from then onwards it spreads to the Devices connected to that pc . You Better Try the SMADAV USB Antivirus along with Avast for more protection & security to system ,

First Go to the website ” ” download & Install it.
Then Run a full scan & aftr the scan completion click the fix all option
And Click Start button, type Gpedit.msc in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

      User Account Control permission
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
Under Computer Configuration, expand Administrative Templates, expand Windows Components, and then click Autoplay Policies.
In the Details pane, double-click Turn off Autoplay.
Click Enabled, and then select All drives in the Turn off Autoplay box to disable Autorun on all drives.
Restart the computer. And From Now Onwards when a usb is plugged on the pc smadav will quick scan it and avoid any infected to spread it to your computer

      Thank You & Enjoy

I used the Avast free trial for 30 days. I didn’t register for the free version during the 30 day trial, however, at the end of the trial, I purchased the Premier edition along with the Avast easy pass (stores passwords, information for forms, etc.). I am unable to download the Avast Premier edition (trial version always worked well and I had no problems with the download. I contacted tech support last night as I really needed to work on some things online and didn’t want to do so without antivirus protection. The tech support assistant was able to remotely access my computer and identify 2 problems with the process: 1)I previously had Norton 360 on my laptop and they were “competing” to protect my computer and 2)I needed to cleanup my disk/computer. She did some type of diagnostic test and then informed me that I would need a “professional” technician to assist me with the cleanup. This would cost me either $116 for a one-time service or $170/year. I didn’t proceed with the assistance at that point. After uninstalling the Norton 360 from my laptop, completing the “disk cleanup” and “defragmenting” on my laptop, I am still unable to download the Avast Premier edition. I don’t understand why the free trial version worked and now the product I purchased will not. I’m not willing to pay $116 for a support technician to assist me with this process. This is very confusing…can someone explain this to me? I am going to ask if I can have a refund for their product as I didn’t intend to spend over $160 for antivirus protection.

      Hi Romiyo,

Unfortunately avast! Premier is free only for the 30 days as a trial version. If you want to keep using it, you really have to purchase the full license. Anyway you can always download the free version.

Having problems with new Avast 2015. It labels all websites as a threat. Removed Avast eventually.
Rather use Malware Bytes or AVG.

How many computers can the paid version of Avast be utilized on simultaneously? We run a small call center and have about 100 computers that need protected.

I purchase Avast Premier in July 2014. The laptop it was originally installed for was accidently dropped and will need repair. In the meantime, I fixed another laptop to use, and wanted to know if I could re-install the Premier anti-virus software on the pc I’m currently using. I received a duplicate license which I put in my documents. However, when I have attempted to upload the license file as instructed, I keep getting a notice that I can’t because there is no file name to click on. What am I doing wrong? Do I need an activation code?

      Hi Michael,

Did you try to insert the license file through the program? Open Avast » Settings » Registration » Insert license file » load your license file.
