Avast SafeZone (sometimes also misspelled as Safe Zone) is the free browser from Avast based on Opera engine. It comes with all Avast antivirus versions (Free Antivirus, Pro Antivirus, Internet Security and Premier) and it’s automatically installed without a user’s consent. Recently lot of users were surprised by discovering a new Avast SafeZone Browser icon on their desktops. Avast claims SafeZone is the most secure browser on the market.
SafeZone browser is basically replacing old SafeZone feature within the Avast paid products and is available completely for free to anyone. The main benefit of using SafeZone browser is the Pay Mode for private online transactions (banking and shopping). We are strongly recommend using SafeZone as default browser. However if you are wondering how to uninstall it, we have put together a simple guide as it’s not so straightforward.
1. Find Avast in Programs and Features in Control Panel
SafeZone browser is installed as a Avast component, not as a separate program, so you need modify your existing Avast installation. Navigate to Windows Control Panel » Programs » Programs and Features and find your installation of Avast antivirus in the list. Select it and click on ‘Change‘.

2. Modify Existing Installation of Avast
Once the Avast setup windows will appear select ‘Modify‘ and from the list of components un-check ‘SafeZone Browser‘ and confirm by clicking on ‘Change‘.

3. Complete SafeZone Browser Removal by Restart
Wait until the removal process finishes and restart your computer by clicking on ‘Restart computer‘ or ‘Restart later‘ if you plan to restart manually.
Avast SafeZone Browser is Uninstalled and Removed from Computer
Now Avast SafeZone browser is completely removed from your computer and desktop icon is gone. In case you would like to add it back just do the same steps and select SafeZone Browser to be installed again.
Although we have used Avast Free Antivirus 2017 screenshots in this article, these steps are also applicable for all Avast Antivirus solutions (i.e. also for Avast Pro Antivirus, Avast Internet Security, or Avast Premier) running the latest version available.
