It comes with all Avast antivirus versions (Free Antivirus, Pro Antivirus, Internet Security and Premier) and it’s automatically installed without a user’s consent. Recently lot of users were surprised by discovering a new Avast SafeZone Browser icon on their desktops. Avast claims SafeZone is the most secure browser on the market.

SafeZone browser is basically replacing old SafeZone feature within the Avast paid products and is available completely for free to anyone. The main benefit of using SafeZone browser is the Pay Mode for private online transactions (banking and shopping). It also includes useful built-in plugins like Passwords, Ad Blocker, Video Downloader or Do-Not-Track. You can read more details about SafeZone Browser in our comprehensive review.

We are strongly recommend using SafeZone as default browser. However if you are wondering how to uninstall it, we have put together a simple guide as it’s not so straightforward.

1. Find Avast in Programs and Features in Control Panel

SafeZone browser is installed as a Avast component, not as a separate program, so you need modify your existing Avast installation. Navigate to Windows Control Panel » Programs » Programs and Features and find your installation of Avast antivirus in the list. Select it and click on ‘Change‘.

Can you tell me with the Free Version of Avast using the Safe Zone Browser why the Icon for Pay mode up top is missing and has to be opened by right clicking on the Avast Icon at the bottom of my computer? A new version was downloaded today 7/18/07 but its still gone

Sorry, your explanation is no better than the useless info on other sites. I have the browser. I don’t have the software. Browser does not show up in list of programs in Control Panel.

Have an expert look over your work next time.

If you’re still running XP, you can find the panel in Start – Settings – Control Panel – Add or Remove Programs – Click on Avast – Choose “Modify”.
